WILDERNESS - McLaren
A concept for McLaren Automotive
Developed as a concept project for McLaren, Wilderness explores the idea of tactile luxury — where performance-led design is softened and elevated through material, texture, and touch.
Rooted in the Scottish landscape, the concept imagines bespoke leather crafted in Scotland, with colour, grain, and surface detail drawn directly from terrain, weather, and topography. Rather than relying on visual excess, the interiors translate landscape into texture; stitching echoes contour lines, finishes reference stone and moss, and every material choice is designed to be felt as much as seen.
While sharing the quiet luxury ethos of restraint and focus, this project takes a bolder, more expressive approach than the Aston Martin concept. Split into two creative directions — Wild Mountain Tame and Highland Rebellion — the work explores contrasting attitudes to speed, heritage, and modernity, aligning material innovation with McLaren’s performance DNA.
The result is a vision of luxury driven by tactility and place: an interior experience that heightens the act of driving through touch, material intelligence, and a deep connection to landscape — where innovation and heritage move at the same speed.
